"Simplicity", 30 x 20, acrylic and paper on canvas, is an exercise in texture, color temperature and depth. I used mostly transparent colors with somewhat alternating warm/cool layers. And, of course, a single tree for its strength, determination and majesty. This is the first painting I've completed in 2011 but I seem to have a room full of "starts" to keep me focused!
Unusual weather for the start of a new year. Mild, foggy and a bit of rain.
Spent the morning wandering my yard taking photographs. The color still in the yard sings in this type of weather. The cedar, maidenhair grass and the red dappled willows in the background of this photo lift my spirits and will no doubt soon become inspiration for another painting.
